Ministry Of Construction in Iraq announces the completion of 4 water projects.

  • Ministry Of Construction announced the completion of 4 vital water projects around multiple Governorates in Iraq by the end of 2023.
  • The country’s Director of the Water Directorate revealed that these projects and some others have been listed under a program for delayed or stalled projects to be completed.
  • The country revealed plans for 2024 which include 6 projects, 4 of which are already in their final stages.

The Iraqi Ministry Of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities identified 4 water projects that were completed before the end of 2024.

The projects are:

Al-Kut Grand Water Project: The project comes at a cost of 102 billion Iraqi dinars, it provides 300,000 residents of Al-kut and other regions in the governorate with a production capacity of 10,00 m3/hour of drinkable water.

Diyala Water Project: Located in Salah Al-Din Governorate.

Al-Salam Water Project: Located in Mansouria.

Al-Sarajqa Water Project: Located in Mansouria.

The Director of the Water Directorate in the ministry Ammar, Adel Al-Maliki said that the directorate had listed these several projects under a program launched by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani.

Aiming to complete the delayed or stalled projects, the plan for 2024 includes the completion of six projects with four already in the final stages, he added.

Project announced by the Ministry:

Al-Amara Grand Water Project: Located in the Maysan Governorate with a capacity of 16,000 cubic meters per hour.

Central Zuhour Water Project: Located in the North of Baghdad Governorate with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per hour.

Central Nahrawan Water Project: Located in Baghdad, the Capital.

Qayyarah-Shura-Tal Abta Water Project: Located in Nineveh Governorate.

Nabil Saffar, a spokesman for the Construction and Housing Ministry said:

“We have identified nearly 100 projects involving water and sewage networks, we aim to launch these projects in 2024”

Saffar said other projects would be launched this year and some projects would also be included in the three-year budget, adding: “We aim for 2024 to be a year of accomplishments.
